HopCat

HopCat is a bar in downtown Grand Rapids specializing in a world-class variety of beer. HopCat opened in January 2008.

They carry 48 beers on tap and another 150 in the bottle from both local (in Michigan) and global breweries. Monthly in-house brews are soon to come in addition to local brewing contests. For the non-beer-drinkers wine and cocktails are available, as well as a wide range of whiskeys.

The menu teaches customers about beer with its detailed descriptions and tidbits of information on the heritage and history of several beer styles.The cheapest beers range from 3-5 dollars, while the more expensive beers can top out at $25.

With a lofted section for smoking, non-smokers can enjoy a smokeless bar without the hassle of having to pass through a cloud of smoke on the way in. The loft itself is a dark and cozy niche with couches to lounge on and a constellation projected onto the ceiling.
